Dear Families,

It’s hard to believe that spring is really here given this past week’s dreary weather. However the forecast looks great for the weekend and next week. We are all looking forward to some warm sunny days and outdoor recess. This leads me to the next topic. As a reminder, please make sure that your child completes their homework and reading every night. Also please continue to sign their planners and reading sheets. It is important to maintain the same routine even though the longer days and nicer weather have arrived!

We are very excited about the arrival of our next Science Kit: Land and Water. We will be doing many interesting experiments over the next few weeks examining the relationship between the land and water. One of our first lessons will be modeling the water cycle. We will be learning about the processes of evaporation and condensation. Please ask your child about it!
Next week we will be doing many fun and exciting activities to celebrate Reading Week.  Below you will find the scheduled activities for the week.

Reading Week at Wakefield Elementary School
(April 13th-17th)

Calling All Books! Books for Book Swap!

The Wakefield School Library will be holding a Book Swap during the week of April 13-17.  We are requesting books that are in good condition that your family is finished using. Every child will be able to take at least one book during the swap, whether or not they brought any books for the swap. We are hoping that you will be able to send a few books that are in good condition to the School’s Library. You can start sending in the books at any time, from now up until the week of the swap.
Monday, April 13th - Hats Off to Reading!  Help us to kick off Reading Week by wearing your favorite hat to school.
Wednesday, April 15th - Wear your pajamas to school!  Also, bring your favorite stuffed animal and a flashlight!
Wednesday, April 15th will be the Grade 4 Battle of the books from 7-8:30 pm at the SKHS auditorium.  Grade 4 students will need to be there by 6:40pm.  Families and friends are most welcome to come and watch!
Friday, April 17th - It’s time to start thinking about your favorite book character. On Friday, the last day of our reading week, Wakefield School will be dressing up as their favorite book characters.
Guest Readers- Come in, and read to your child and his/her class.  Be on the lookout for a signup sheet from your child’s teacher.
Reading Trivia Questions will be asked each day regarding books that have been read to your child during his/her time in library.  Students will have the opportunity to show what they know about these books!
Important dates to remember:
